RACHEL WEISZ & RALPH FIENNES IN "PAGE EIGHT"! DONALD SUTHERLAND JOINS "THE HUNGER GAMES"! TWO PROJECTS ON VIVALDI WITH MAX IRONS, LUKE EVANS, JESSICA BIEL, BEN KINGSLEY, ALFRED MOLINA ...

It seems famous composer ANTONIO VIVALDI is quite trendy these days since two films are being made about him at the same

time. According to "ScreenDaily" one of the films will star young Max Irons, Elle Fanning and Clare Foy with experienced legends Jacqueline Bisset, Tom Wilkinson and Alfred Molina, and it will follow Vivaldi as he turns a talented, but traumatised, group of  illegimate daughters of courtesans, into a world-class orchestra which will play all through Venice and in front of the Pope as well. In the second project, director Patricia Riggen will follow VIVALDI's love problems and the cast could include amazing Luke Evans, lovely Jessica Biel and Ben Kingsley.

 Two of the upcoming teen bestseller film adaptations have added new actors: Donald Sutherland has joined the cast of THE HUNGER GAMES film project in which he will play President Snow, the evil and powerful ruler of Panem and its 12

districts. He will star next to Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth (who got his hair died in brown). Another project THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS film adaptation has hired their male lead: young Jamie Campbell Bower will play a demon hunter who helps the main star Lily Collins in her mission. I'm rather shocked they've chosen Campbell Bower, who gives the most horrid and most superficial and pointless performance as king Arthur in Starz's show CAMELOT. The audience is pretty much unanimous on him being the weakest link of that show in which his acting is so annoying that I'm even considering not watching the show anymore even though I'm the biggest fan of historical shows.

"Variety" has just announced that PBS is ready to broadcast their interesting new ensemble drama this Fall. Directed by amazingly

talented David Hare, who wrote marvelous screenplays for Kate Winslet's tremendous THE READER and THE HOURS, this thriller called PAGE EIGHT will have a stunning cast including Bill Nighy as Johnny Worricker, an MI-5 officer who becomes wrapped up in an elaborate conspiracy after the death of his best friend, Benedict Baron the chief of security service (Michael Gambon). The film also stars Rachel Weisz as Johnny's neighbor and his secret enemy and Ralph Fiennes and Judy Davis. PBS is also preparing THE SONG OF LUNCH with Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman about a book editor and his former lover who reconnect 15 years after their original affair.

IS DC PREPARING A "HAWKMAN" MOVIE ADAPTATION? GREAT POSTER FOR HUGH JACKMAN'S "REAL STEEL"! SYFY BRINGS HUMANS WITH SUPER POWERS IN "ALPHAS"

According to "BadAssDigest" one of the latest super hero comics to get its movie adaptation is DC's HAWKMAN. It will apparently be

a mix of INDIANA JONES, THE DA VINCI CODE and GHOST and it will follow the fictional superhero who  uses archaic weaponry and large, artificial wings attached to a harness made of the Nth metal that allows him to fly. The winged superhero usually works closely with a partner and at the same time a romantic interest named Hawkgirl or Hawkwoman in his fight against supervillains. The film will be produced by Adrian Askarieh, whom HOLLYWOOD SPY has mentioned last year as the producer of the upcoming adventure LEONARDO DA VINCI AND THE SOLDIERS OF FOREVER.

Dreamworks has just released a lovely new poster for their October blockuster REAL STEEL in which Hugh Jackman

plays a futuristic washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, he earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When he hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, he and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

Premiering this July on SyFy is the new show coming from the writers of X-MEN THE LAST STAND. Called ALPHAS,  it will

follow a team of ordinary citizens with extraordinary mental and physical abilities: Nina (Laura Mennell) is able to re-program people's brains, Bill's (Malik Yoba) ability is to summon amazing strength, Gary (Ryan Cartwright) can read electromagnetic wave, Rachel (Azita Ghanizada) can enhance one of her senses, while Cameron (Warren Christie) possesses flawless aim, perfect balance, and greatly enhanced motor skills. Led by Dr. Lee Rosen (David Strathairn), the fivesome takes the law into their own hands, investigating cases that suggest other Alpha activity to uncover what the CIA, FBI and Pentagon have not been able, or willing, to solve.

also reveals that he is writing a script for the movie adaptation of famous sf classic HYPERION by Dan Simmons. According to "MovieWeb" he is now negotiating with the producer who owns the rights on the sf saga. The story of HYPERION is set in the distant future, as a space war threatens Hyperion, a planet known for the Time Tombs - large artifacts that can move through time and are guarded by a gruesome monster called the Shrike.

I know I don't post Asian trailers often, but I saw this one at my dear Jaccsy's and it sounds and looks really marvelous and

magical. Coming out this summer to Chinese cinemas, REST ON YOUR SHOULDER  is a magical fantasy romance with breath taking special effects and stunning land scapes which follows a young woman who becomes a butterfly in exchange for the recovery of her sick fiance, a biologist. Yet when he recovers from his illness, he is struck by the disappearance of his fiancee. As the three year time for her return to human form comes near, however, a plague spreads across Celestial Island. When the butterfly realizes she may hold the key to the cure, she goes on a journey to seek the truth.  Will the butterfly save the dying land from the epidemic? Will she successfully become human again after the three year limit? The film was shown at Cannes this year leaving a deep impression.

On June 24th, we shall watch A LITTLE HELP,  about Laura (Jenna Fischer) whose life has begun to take some dark and difficult turns. Her marriage to a real estate agent (Chris O’Donnell) has become tense and loveless, she even suspects that

he’s cheating, and her relationship with her 12 year-old son Dennis has become strained as well, his emerging adolescence having turned him typically sullen and hostile. And she is not dealing well with it - she’s drinking and smoking too much, her self-esteem and confidence are in free fall. When her husband suddenly dies  she gets surrounded by her intrusive mother and sister who bring even more problems to her life. In that mess, she finds comfort in her sister's husband and they become drawn to each other in difficult circumstances despite the obvious complications and dangers that this implies. July 22nd will bring us probably the biggest romantic film this summer FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS. Directed by talented and

super charming Will Gluck (Easy-A) this adorable film revolves around Dylan (Justin Timberlake) and Jamie (Mila Kunis) who think it's going to be easy to add the simple act of sex to their friendship, despite what Hollywood romantic comedies would have them believe. SELENA & LEIGHTON GO TO "MONTE CARLO"

July 1st brings two popular teen stars to cinemas in a romantic comedy MONTE CARLO in which young TV stars Selena Gomez and  Leighton Meester are joined by Andie MacDowell and GLEE's Cory Monteith. The film is actually an adaptation of the hit novel "Headhunters" by Jules Bass about about three Midwestern school teachers who ditch a disappointing no-frills holiday in Paris and pose as wealthy women vacationing in Monaco. EPIC DRAMA IN "SNOW FLOWER AND THE SECRET FAN"

On July 15th we shall finally watch opulent epic drama on romance, love and deep friendship in long awaited Asian set film SNOW FLOWER AND THE SECRET FAN by acclaimed director Wayne Wang with Hugh Jackman in the cast.  The movie adaptation of the bestselling novel by Lisa See is set in 19th century remote China, and it revolves around the lifelong friendship of Lily and Snow Flower and their imprisonment by rigid cultural codes of conduct for women. She will join the fantastic jury which already includes Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell. Nicole is also pumping new hit singles from her new album KILLER LOVE, and after POISON and brilliant DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH, which were hits here in Europe, she is now taking our breath away in amazingly choreographed and very catchy video for her third single RIGHT THERE! Director Matt Reeves (LET ME IN, CLOVERFIELD) will helm THIS DARK ENDEAVOR, based on Kenneth Oppel's novel

which hasn't yet been released. The story follows a young Victor Frankenstein while he is trying to find the three rare ingredients needed to create the Elixir of Life in order to save his twin brother, Konrad, who has become gravely ill. He must turn to his father's The Dark Library to find the secret and ancient formula after which he will scale the highest trees in the Strumwald, dive into the deepest lake caves, and sacrifice his own body part, risking his life to save another.

SHORT HEADLINES *Cary Fukunaga (JANE EYRE) will direct NO BLOOD, NO GUTS, NO GLORY,  an action film set in

the Civil War, which follows a spy and 20 Union soldiers in disguise who board a train in Georgia in order to pull off a heist that could bring a quick end to the Civil War. *Vin Diesel has announced at his Facebook page that RIDDICK, the new part of the cult sf saga, could start shooting this summer, but since it will be R-rated (more similar to PITCH DARK than to CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK), he will have to work for less money. The film should also star Karl Urban and will be directed by David Twohy.

Today you can check out the extremely intriguing trailer for new FOX Fall show ALCATRAZ. Produced by J.J. Abrams, this chilling new thriller centers on America's most infamous prison

and one-time home to the nation's most notorious murderers, rapists, kidnappers and thieves. But the frightening twist is that a group of Alcatraz inmates and staff that mysteriously vanished from the prison in the 1960s never to be found, suddenly start reappearing in modern times looking young and not aged at all ... and those are all nations most dangerous criminals. The show will follow a group of agents and detectives lead by Sam Neill who are trying to piece together the inexplicable sequence of events!

LEO DICAPRIO IN A FILM ABOUT SERBIAN PINK PANTHER JEWELRY THIEVES! ED WESTWICK & HOLLY HUNTER JOIN HAILEE STEINFELD IN "ROMEO & JULIET". ARIEL GETS DARK IN "MERMAID: A TWIST ON THE CLASSIC TALE"

We've all loved little Ariel from Disney's LITTLE MERMAID, but now Sony is planning to make a darker version of the famous

underwater tale by Hans Christian Andersen. According to "MovieWeb" it will basically be a film adaptation of Carolyn Turgeon's book MERMAID: A TWIST ON THE CLASSIC TALE,  which focuses on a princess who seeks out to marry the prince of her rival kingdom, to try and save her own ravaged kingdom. However, the princess discovers that a beautiful mermaid has also fallen for the prince, risking her life to be with him. The film will be produced by Tobey Maguire. And to remind you, China is also preparing an underwater epic EMPIRES OF THE DEEP with Olga Kurylenko in the lead role.

One of the hottest news in Serbia these days is that Leo DiCaprio has sent his screenwriter to Belgrade to investigate the story around the famous Serbian band of thieves called PINK PANTHER. He is apparently planning to shoot the film on them, and the screenwriter has been talking to Serbian police and Interpol gathering all the necessary details.

As you may have read in the press, Pink Panther has around 200 members and they are known as extremely successful thieves who never use violent methods in their work.  They've stolen a few hundreds of millions of euros worth jewelry. Their targets were jewelry stores in Germany, Switzerland, Monaco ... but they are most famous for the robbery in Tokyo in 2004 where they stole 32 million euros worth jewelry including the famous Contessa De Vendome necklace with 116 diamonds and for the robbery in Dubai where they stole $11 million worth jewelry in just 11 seconds. The mastermind of the gang still hasn't been caught!

You already know that fairy tale film adaptations are popular these days in Hollywood with gazillion SNOW WHITE projects, a few SLEEPING BEAUTY ones, ALICE and RED RIDING HOOD are

already done ... and you also know that ROMEO AND JULIET is getting a new version again with young Hailee Steinfeld (TRUE GRIT) in the lead role. Now the film has new cast members. To be directed by Italian director Carlo Carlei, the film will also have Oscar winner Holly Hunter and teen star Ed Westwick from popular TV show GOSSIP GIRL. Hunter will play Juliet's nurse who raised her and who serves as a messenger between her and Romeo. Westwick will not play Romeo, but Tybalt, Juliet's hot-tempered cousin who is always quick to draw his sword.

Betsey Johnson...glitz, glam, fun! The Betsey Johnson fashion show for Spring 2011 was an utterly joyous event.....

Naturally everything 'Betsey' has a vibe of fun, youthful, life's-a-party which in fashion (especially, might I add, in Spring fashion) is what is wanted! The Betsey Johnson show for Spring was all that and oh so much more...

Runway Rundown...

-Colours-

The thing that I love about Betsey is her willingness to indulge in bold and cute colours. I think fashion-lovers have to agree that a Betsey show would NOT be complete without a glorious array of colours from purple to yellow to pink and orange! This designer has the whole rainbow covered.

-Makeup-

When it came to cosmetics Betsey's models were looking fierce! All the models were wearing a green eyeshadow, light pink lipstick and a light blush. The hair was left loose but slightly curled and disheveled.

-Over all-

The over all show was amazing! The dresses were all gorgeous and the kinds of dresses your could really picture yourself wearing to a gala or prom. Numerous high-end designers this Spring were going for edgey, bold colours and Betsey was showcasing this brilliant trend as well!

After two weeks of voting, the third part of WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE AUSTRALIAN STAR poll is over and the winner with 35% of your votes is Toni Collette, who left Jesse Spencer (19%) and Sam Worthington (17%) behind her.

Toni Collette is larger than life. We knew that from the first time we saw her in the cult Australian film MURIEL'S WEDDING in which she gave the most intelligent portrayal of a girl captured in the world which constantly puts her down. She was also absolutely flawless playing devoted mothers in unusual situations in LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE and THE SIXTH SENSE, we also loved her in EVENING, THE DEAD GIRL, IN HER SHOES, THE HOURS, but she amazed us mostly with her charismatic portrayal of a mother with multiple personalities in UNITED STATES OF TARA.
